IMPACT Classes
At the heart of our HT program are our innovative IMPACT classes. It will be in these classes that HT students will be introduced to the cutting-edge, global vision for the future that is the DNA of Silicon Valley. All students will engage in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) projects that will include working with curriculum and tools not found in regular classrooms such as robotics, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Design, coding, multimedia production, and many more.
Every student will also have Impact Goals, annual goals that are developed to address students’ improvement in academic, social-emotional, and areas of personal passions but also to teach students important life skills such as goal-setting, evaluating data, reflecting, and learning how to self-advocate.
All the students will have the opportunity to take part in an authentic Stanford Design Thinking Course. Students are taught how to develop a Growth Mindset and engage in the Design Thinking process. Students will understand how these world-renown Stanford-developed processes can be leveraged to acquire skills such as empathy, rapid prototyping, and “failing forward” in order to develop grit, self-confidence, and become life-long learners. Finally, students will learn how to be positive and effective leaders. They will be taught how to make good decisions, communicate effectively, and manage time, people, and projects.
